In the field of printing and paper technology, demand in Algeria is constantly increasing and imports in this field have grown from €57m in 2016 to €101m in 2020 and €77m in 2021 and 2022, making Algeria, together with South Africa and Egypt, one of the three largest importers of printing and paper technology in Africa.
When it comes to packaging technology imports, with €127m in 2022, Algeria belongs to the leading importers in Africa, together with Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt. (VDMA)
Along with increasing industrialisation and a rapidly growing population, the Algerian printing & packaging industry is growing strongly.
And printpack alger 2024 is growing just as fast. For its best possible development, the exhibition is therefore moving to the larger Palais des Expositions d'Alger - SAFEX.
Organised by fairtrade Messe and Messe Duesseldorf, printpack & plast alger will be held in Pavilions C & A of the Palais des Expositions d'Alger – SAFEX from 04 to 06 March 2024.

The exhibitors come from Algeria, Austria, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Kuwait, Malaysia, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tunisia, Türkiye, UAE and USA.

printpack & plast alger 2024 is proud to host major governmental institutions and market leaders from Algeria's plastics, printing, and packaging industries.
The Austrian Pavilion at printpack & plast alger 2024 receives strong support from ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Algeria, the commercial section of the Austrian Embassy in Algiers.
A significant number of more than 100 Chinese exhibitors will be participating in the 2024 event, showcasing cutting-edge innovations and technologies.
Renowned French market leaders will showcase their products through individual corporate stands. Additionally, the Algerian-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry CCIAF is providing crucial support for the French contingent.
In an exciting first, Germany will be officially represented with its own German Pavilion at printpack & plast alger 2024. The German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, along with the German Trade Fair Association AUMA and the VDMA Plastics and Rubber Machinery, provides full support for this initiative.

Conference on 5 March on "RECYCLING SOLUTIONS”
The exhibition will be enhanced by a conference organised by the Algerian-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Algérie) in cooperation with fairtrade & Messe Düsseldorf. The conference will take place on 5 March 2024 in the conference area of pavilion C Casbah on the SAFEX site.
Experts from Algerian governmental institutions and the private sector will discuss with international experts on the theme of "RECYCLING SOLUTIONS".
Trade commissioners from Germany, Austria and Italy, together with the CEO of the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie Mezghena, will provide an international perspective on the subject at the opening of the conference.
This will be followed by a presentation from the Ministry of Environment and Renewable Energy on "Algeria's Action Plan for Waste Management and Recycling (SNGID 2035)".
GIZ will be presenting the "Support for SMEs in the Circular Economy Project" (SENEC).
In the afternoon, there will be two panel discussions:
- PANEL I: "Plastics and Packaging Recycling: Emerging Trends and Sustainable Solutions".
- PANEL II: "Sustainable innovations: The evolution of paper - Trends and technologies in paper recycling".

The latest trends in the printing, packaging and plastics industries, and the broad outlines of printpack & plast 2024 in Algiers and drupa 2024 in Duesseldorf, were the topics expertly addressed. The event provided an exceptional opportunity to explore technological innovations and exchange ideas with the organisers of both shows.
The stars of the morning were, of course, the 80 industry representatives. But the government was also prominently represented: Mr Khaldi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication, his assistant, Mr Souci, Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Mr Benzaid, Ministry of the Environment and Renewable Energies, Mr Ramdani, AHK Algeria, Ms Geldermann, Messe Duesseldorf, Mr Bahidjeddine, Director General of the National Centre for Cleaner Production Technology.

Sabine Geldermann, Director drupa and Global Head Print Technologies with Messe Duesseldorf points out:“According to the German Engineering Association VDMA, Algeria’s demand for printing and paper technology is constantly increasing. Algeria’s imports in this sector in 2021 amounted to €77 million, up from €57m in 2016. Algeria thus ranks among the largest importers of printing technology on the African continent, behind South Africa and Egypt, but ahead of Nigeria €64m, Morocco €45m, Ghana €29m, Kenya €28m and Tunisia €23m.
The most important supplier countries are Germany, Italy, China, France, Switzerland, Spain, Netherlands, Turkey, UK, Belgium, USA and Austria.”
