Preview printpack alger 2011: Where technology leaders introduce their innovations
Algeria’s 3rd International Printing and Packaging Technology Trade Fair has now been scheduled to be held at the Palais des Expositions in Algiers – Safex in October 2011.
printpack alger 2011 will be organised by the German trade fair specialists fairtrade and its German-Algerian team. fairtrade operates a daughter company in Algiers already since 2003. ISO 9001:2008 certified, and being a member of UFI The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, fairtrade organises events according to the UFI quality norms.
printpack alger 2011 represents an excellent opportunity for exhibitors to represent their cutting-edge solutions to a professional audience from all over Algeria. It is here, where decision makers from the industry, technical experts, technology leaders and professionals meet to network and to do business.
According to VDMA - the German Engineering Federation, Algeria, in 2009, represented a market with an import volume of Euro 190 million in terms of packaging and printing machinery and equipment alone:
- Euro 131.9 million in terms of packaging machinery (+ 15.0%) and
- Euro 58.1 million in terms of printing and paper technology (- 16.6%)
In addition to the market for technology, there is an ever growing market for printing and packaging material, professional papers, packaging solutions using metal, glass, paper and paperboard, plastics, …
The printing and packaging sector represents one of the most important growth sectors in Algeria. Thanks to a strong economic upswing, the growing population’s disposable income is rising - and that in turn dramatically pushes up various industries and the demand for printing and packaging machinery and packaging materials.
In a further boost to the publishing, manufacturing and food processing sector, and therefore to the printing and packaging industry, hundreds of new factories are to be constructed in the coming years, as part of a multi-billion dollar investment.
printpack alger 2011 serves the Algerian printing and packaging industry as the showcase of technological innovations, developments and trends. Just like in 2010: Outlined Pierre Henri Gerbet, Saga’s managing director: “printpack alger 2010 has been a very successful event for Saga as we were able to meet many new clients, conclude business deals straight away on our stand and strengthen our brand towards existing clients and the overall Algerian market. As we notice strong growth and an ever improving investment climate on the Algerian printing market, printpack alger has worked out successfully as a very important platform for our industry.”
Positive were also the remarks of Mustapha Merzouk, the managing director of GIPEC: “With a turnover of some US $ 75 million and 30 years of experience, GIPEC is the leader in the Algerian paper industry and one of the most important partners for the paper and cellulose industry in Africa. At printpack alger 2010, we have successfully exhibited with our two brands Embag and Sacar. As we have heavily invested in new machinery and equipment, we were able to considerably improve the quality of our products.”
For his part, Christian Deufert, manager at the German exhibitor Windmöller & Hölscher, one of the world’s leading companies in the area of flexible packaging, also was impressed by the outcome of the event: “Because of the business opportunities initiated on the Algerian growth market, printpack alger 2010 has been a resounding success for us. We have sold some printing and extrusion machines. Our target now is to grow even stronger than the market and become the market leader in Algeria.”
In Algeria, considerable oil and gas revenues together with economic opening, liberalisation and privatisation have created constant GDP growth of between 3% and 6% during the past few years. With a GDP of US $ 140.8 billion in 2009, foreign exchange reserves of US$ 149.0 billion at the end of 2009, and exports of petrochemicals worth US$ 42.8 billion in 2009, Algeria is the economic powerhouse on the African continent, ranking second only after South Africa.
Imports have increased from US $ 26.35 billion in 2007 over US $ 37.99 billion in 2008 (+44.2 %) to US $ 39.10 billion in 2009 (+2.9 %). Massive investments into various capital and consumer goods’ industries contribute to the increase in demand for packaging and printing machinery, material and solutions in Algeria.
